Police Rescue 3 Indians, Neutralise Kidnappers in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has announced that its operatives have neutralised two suspects involved in the kidnapping of three Indian nationals.

According to a press release issued on Tuesday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Omotola Odutola, the remaining four kidnappers escaped while the victims were rescued.

Odutola stated that the police received a report from the manager of Breeze Company Nigeria Limited, who stated that a group of kidnappers opened fire on two Toyota buses conveying 16 Indian nationals on the Ibadan-Lagos expressway on May 3.

The kidnappers seized three Indian nationals from the second bus, which was not escorted by police.

He added that the anti-kidnapping section of the command, in collaboration with local security agents, launched a rescue operation and engaged the kidnappers in a gun battle in the forest along Benin-Sagamu Papalanto on May 7.

The police successfully rescued the victims unhurt and recovered two AK-47 rifles, a locally made gun, a sword, a cell phone, criminal charms, and 65 rounds of ammunition.

Furthermore, the police recovered a ransom loot of N7.9 million and 1,500 Indian Rupees from the two neutralized kidnappers.

The Commander revealed that police have deposited the bodies of the two kidnappers at the mortuary and are currently working to apprehend the four fleeing members of the kidnap gang.
