Kevin Phillips has advised Man Utd defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka to secure a move abroad amid reports suggesting that they are willing to sell him this summer.

Earlier this week it was reported that Wan-Bissaka ‘does not feature in Erik ten Hag’s plans’. It is said that Man Utd are ‘open to offers’ for the right-back.

After progressing through the ranks at Crystal Palace. He signed for Man Utd in 2019 for around £50m.

Wan-Bissaka was a key player for United up until the start of the 2021/22 campaign. He is been in and out of the team this term though, playing 20 times in the Premier League.

Earlier this month it was claimed that Jose Mourinho’s Roma are ‘considering a move’ for the 24-year-old.

Phillips thinks Wan-Bissaka “needs to find regular football” to “continue his development”:

“That could be best for him to rediscover his love for football,” Phillips told Football Insider.

“He just needs to find regular football. He’s had a taste of a massive club, just as Wilf Zaha did when he left Palace.

“Zaha ended up going back, and I think Wan-Bissaka needs to find somewhere he enjoys playing again.

“Whether he goes back to Palace or goes abroad, he just needs to continue his development – because he’s still young.

“He’ll take great experience from being at United, but it just hasn’t quite worked out.

“The manager will play an important part as well. Anyone bringing him in has got to look after him.”

Elsewhere, Pep Guardiola cannot get his head around the fact that Man Utd fans want their city rivals to pip Liverpool to the Premier League title on Sunday.

United fans, battered and bruised after a wretched season, will watch on in pain, knowing that one of their rivals will end the day victorious.

City, though, are undoubtedly seen as the lesser of two evils, meaning most United fans would prefer to see Liverpool miss out. This prospect was mind-boggling to Guardiola. “Are you sure?” he asked reporters when informed that United fans will root for City.

“So United likes City more than Liverpool? I didn’t know that. So I was wrong when I said that everybody wants Liverpool to win in this country. They’re welcome to join us in the streets but they have to wear a blue shirt.”
